Story
Hello,
We have decided to make a difference by taking part in Run for the Kids and raising money for the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
This is our first Run for the Kids and it is our way of saying 'thank you' to all the staff at the Royal Children's Hospital for giving our girls hope for the future.
In January 2016 both our girls, Johana and Ella, were diagnosed with MLD (Metachromatic Leukodystrophy) a rare, degenerative, genetic disorder and we were told a bone marrow transplant was the only treatment.
So, in 2016 both girls underwent bone marrow transplants at the Royal Children's Hospital.
As teenagers, who both endured long stays in isolation and away from family and friends, their treatment and stay in hospital was made so much easier by the amazing care of the doctors and nurses, and the fun times spent with the art, music and play therapists.
We are grateful to have such a wonderful hospital with even more wonderful staff.

Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal Ltd
The Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal (Good Friday Appeal) brings together people from all parts of the community to raise money for the benefit of The Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne. Funds raised support research, state-of-the-art equipment, education and training, and family centred care programs.
